Mercredi le 25 février 2015.
Bonjour ladies and gentlemen,
As mentioned before, it has been an extremely busy couple of weeks and it will continue to be. I cannot believe it is almost MARCH!
On February 20th, we went to the R.O.M and had such a great time. Thank you to all the volunteers that came with us. We could not have done it without you. :)
On March 10th, students will be going to the PAN AM center as well as he Young People's theater to watch Pinocchio. If parents are interested to join us, it is $5.00, and of course we would love to have you!
Concours d'Art Oratoire: This is a great opportunity for students to showcase the French that they have learned over the last couple of years. They have already chosen a topic of interest to them and they are to come up with an interesting presentation that is no less than 1:30. They are to have the presentation memorized, however they are allowed to have cue cards with some notes in case they need a reminder. All students will be presenting to our classroom on Monday, March 2nd. Those who are interested in competing ( I encourage all of them to compete, but of course it is their choice :) ), will be presenting to the Extended French classrooms on Friday, March 6th. Mlle.Hutchinson, Mme.Arul and myself will be judges. We will be choosing two students from grades 4-8 to compete in the Concours d'Art Oratoire on the board level.
Here are a few helpful links that will help you come up with your speech: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWgPCgUKgWM
http://www.omlta.org/upcoming-events/concours/
More information to follow.
Mathematics: We are currently working on Measurement and Geometry. We have completed Perimeter, we are now moving onto Area. By the end of this week we will be introducing angles, triangles as well as using protractors.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact me.
Mlle.Ibrahim

Hello everyone,
I hope you are all doing well, and enjoying all the snow. We have had a few very busy weeks in January and it will continue until June. :) There has definitely been a lot of learning happening in room 214.
In language, students are finishing their picture books and after reading all their rough drafts I am truly impressed by their work. I cannot wait to see the final product!
Mathematics - We've started working on Measurement, and we are working on converting meters, kilometers, millimeters, centimeters and decimeters. We will then move onto telling time. EXCITING NEWS: MATH MARDI!!!!! - Every Tuesday during lunch students may stay in for extra help with Math.
Students have a Social Studies test next Wednesday. All the material that they need to study is in their folder that they will be taking home to study over the weekend. They have all completed presentations and came up with their fact sheets. It is important for them to study these fact sheets (the ones that they made up for their presentations) as I will be taking questions from them. The format of the test will be: fill in the blanks (with a word box), multiple choice questions, and questions (where they will be required to answer them in full sentences). https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_SzDLdN4urcSjhOb2FQTVdJa1k/view?usp=sharing
Parent teacher interviews: Report Cards will be sent home during the week of February 9th. Interviews will be held on February 11th and 12th in the evening. I will be requesting to have interviews with certain parents/guardians otherwise they are not a necessity. However, if you would like to request an interview, you are more than welcome to do so.
As you are all aware, we performed a song by One Republic called I lived on December 18th 2014. The students did a phenomenal job. I also recorded the students singing the song and created a video to go with it. Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=693yAOHsC4M ENJOY!!!
As always, if you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me at the school , through the agenda or at mlleibrahim4@gmail.com.
Thank you for your support,
Mlle. Ibrahim

Bonne
année!
Happiest of New Years! I hope this year brings all of you much success, joy, love and peace.
We are back
to business in room 214! We have already accomplished a lot in the last few
months and we will continue to do so.
Français: Students ended off the year with irregular
French verbs. They received their French tests back and were asked to get them
signed. We started this year learning about the passé compose (past tense).
This is a rather difficult concept for students to understand so we will be
spending a lot of time learning it. Here is a link that can help you out: https://www.laits.utexas.edu/tex/gr/tap2.html
Students also wrote their resolutions for the New Year.
